Justinian Society CLE:
The Process of Acquiring Italian Citizenship
Through Court Proceedings
Monday, November 3, 2025
12:30 PM - 1:30 PM
Virtual via Zoom
This specialized seminar is designed for individuals seeking formal recognition of Italian citizenship by descent (Jure Sanguinis). The seminar provides a comprehensive legal and procedural analysis of the Italian court process for citizenship recognition, an indispensable alternative to lengthy consular procedures. We will address the circumstances under which judicial intervention is necessary, like in the 1948 Rule (Via Materna) Cases and the Denial of Justice Cases. Also, we will present a detailed, step-by-step examination of filing the citizenship petition (ricorso), the role of Italian legal counsel, managing documentation requirements (Apostilles and Certified Translations), and the final pronouncement of the Italian Judge.
